  • All teams MUST check in prior to playing, or you will forfeit your first game and every game thereafter until all paperwork has been submitted and/or reviewed!
  • For additional information and clarification on exactly what 'paperwork' you will be required to present at check-in  please see the Registration Link on the left.
Tournament Rules

  • The tournament will be governed by the 2008 A.S.A. Rules / Code for championship and/or invitational play, except where amended by  Slugger Fest rules below.
GAME RULES INFORMATION

 ALL AGE DIVISIONS

  • Game times are approximate!  Be prepared to take the field immediately when the preceding game is completed.  Failure to be on the field and ready for play will result in a forfeit.  It is recommended that you arrive at your assigned field - warmed up and ready to play a minimum of 30 minutes prior to your scheduled game time.
  • Home team will be determined by coin toss.  Once bracket play begins, teams listed on the top of a bracket will occupy 3rd base dugout, and teams listed on the bottom of a bracket will occupy 1st base dugout.
  • Ground rules will be reviewed by the umpires before each game.  The starting line-up must be submitted to the home plate umpire at ground rules.   Line-up cards will be furnished by Slugger Fest.
  • Game balls will be furnished and are to be returned.  It shall be the teams responsibility to 'retrieve' foul balls that are hit out on their side of the dugout.
Slugger Fest strives to keep costs down for teams and the prices of softballs has increased every year.  Any team member or team caught carrying game balls out of the park will result in an automatic ejection from the remainder of Slugger Fest.
  • A one hour and twenty minute time limit shall apply to all pool play games and one hour and thirty minutes for bracket games.  Official game time starts at ground rules, and will be the home team’s responsibility to note the starting time in the scorebook per the umpire.  The umpire shall have the official time piece.  No new inning shall begin after the one hour and twenty and/or thirty minute time limit.  The game clock will be stopped only for injury or protest.
  • In the event of a tie game after seven complete innings of play, the International Tie-Breaker shall begin in the 8th inning.  In the event that time has expired, and a game is tied, the International Tie-Breaker will be instituted at the top of the next inning!
  • There shall be a 12 run rule after three (3) innings, 10 run rule after four (4) innings, 8 run rule after five (5) innings and 6 run rule after six (6) innings for for the invitational tournament.
  • It shall be the responsibility of each team's coach / manager to make sure all scores have been posted correctly on the 'board' at the park you are playing at.
  • Any coach / player ejected from a ball game will be reviewed by the Tournament Committee.  Decisions of the Tournament Committee shall be final!  Coach / player will be notified by the Tournament Committee with the final decision.
  • There shall be no infield practice at anytime.  Practice and warm-up areas will be designated at check-in. Teams may warm-up on the outside of the foul lines closest to their dugout prior to their games start time.  At no time will teams be allowed on the field (or inside the foul lines) for 'warm-ups.'
Protest

  • The protest fee is $100 (CASH.)  The fee will be returned if the protest is allowed.  Any dispute on rule interpretation will be settled immediately by the protest committee, before the game continues.  A protest committee has been established for Slugger Fest – 2008.  ABSOLUTELY NO PROTEST WILL BE ALLOWED ON AN UMPIRE’S JUDGMENT CALL.
Inclement Weather

  • In the event of rain, every effort will be made to continue and complete the tournament.  However, one or more of the following formats may be instituted at the discretion of the Tournament Director!  Teams must be prepared to play at ANYTIME!
    • The run rule will be lowered to eight (8) runs after three innings, six (6) runs after four innings and four (4) runs after five innings.
    • One hour time limit and/or five innings of play.
  • In the event of extreme heat and/or humidity, the safety and welfare of the players will be a primary concern of the Tournament Staff.  Games may or will be shortened to the above mentioned formats.
  • It is not our intention to 'rain-out' games or not allow you to play!  The staff at the various locations will do everything humanly possible to get games in during the weekend!
